dr. Matjaž Gams

HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS AT THE JOŽEF STEFAN INSTITUTE (IJS)

Dr. Matjaž Gams earned his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He has taught at over 10 institutions, including in Slovenia and Germany, and conducted research at the Turing Institute in Glasgow, UK. His work spans intelligent systems, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, cognitive sciences, and superintelligence. He has been involved in high education, science, and demography analyses, leading to new discoveries. Dr. Gams has contributed to Slovenia’s first intelligent employment system and a fall detection system with over 90% accuracy in complex cases. He has co-authored seven patents or applications, co-founded several Slovenian societies, served as a state councilor, and been actively involved in promoting top knowledge roles in Slovenia. He is also the executive editor of the journal Informatica and editor of 10 international journals.
